I need excitement, oh I need it bad
And it’s the best I’ve ever had

I wanna hold her, wanna hold her tight
Get teenage kicks right through the night

A teenage dream’s so hard to beat…

DJ, record label owner, collector but foremost music lover, John Peel – probably one of the most instrumental persons in music, kept a small wooden box containing 143 of his favourite singles, chosen from his vast record collection (containing 26.000 albums and 40.000 singles).

Want a closer look – The documentary film made by Elaine Shepherd, released on 14 November 2005 on Channel 4 is well worth it´s 50 min.

The first playlist highlights 20 m90 favourites from Peel´s Record Box.

The latter, trying to copy the full extend of the Record Box. Naturally an impossible task, but still enough to make you fall in love with Peel and (his) music all over again.
